Ethics standards
Please first read JTCLT's Publication Ethics Statement. Authors and/or other contributors of JTCLT are expected to strictly adhere to the ethical standards as described in JTCLT's Publication Ethics Statement page. By submitting a manuscript to this journal, each author explicitly confirms that the manuscript meets those standards.
General policies
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published elsewhere—either in print or electronically—nor currently under review for possible publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should be submitted in electronic format, one in Microsoft Word document and the other in PDF format. Manuscripts are sent to reviewers anonymously. Results of the review process, often including anonymous reviewers' comments, suggested revisions, and editorial changes will be returned to the author(s) via email.
The journal publishes articles and reviews in both English and Chinese. English articles should go through a spelling and grammar check before submission. Authors writing in their non-native language are advised to have their articles thoroughly edited by professionals with native-level proficiency in that language prior to submission.
Each manuscript submitted to the journal should begin with abstracts in both English and Chinese, beginning with the one in the language of the article. Each abstract should be 1/4 to 1/2 page in length (approximately 100-200 words in the English version).
Documentation of sources: Authors should adhere to established academic standards for acknowledging sources and avoiding plagiarism.
Authors of accepted manuscripts grant JTCLT the permanent right to publish their articles either electronically or in print. Authors hold the copyright to their articles and may republish them elsewhere as long as they acknowledge JTCLT as the original publisher.
Reprint requests should be directed to the individual authors. JTCLT should be acknowledged as the original publisher.
Deadline and publication timeline and languages
JTCLT is published online twice a year, one in June and the other in December. Articles can be written in either English or Chinese.
JTCLT will also be published regularly in print by China Social Sciences Press (中 国社会科学出版社). The print version will be a collection of (1) the best articles published in the online version of the journal, (2) the best papers (need further editing) presented at the TCLT conferences and included in the TCLT conference proceedings, and (3) best articles submitted. The written language for the collection is either English or Simplified Chinese.
Manuscript preparation
All manuscripts must be readable in Microsoft Word with all the original formatting. Articles written in Chinese may be in either simplified or traditional characters. Character form (traditional or simplified) should be consistent unless the subject of the article requires contrasting the two forms.
Diagrams, tables, and charts must be no more than 6 " wide, and the font size should be no smaller than 10 points in order to be legible.
Chinese characters in articles written in English: Characters should be used in example sentences. Romanization may be added at the author's discretion. For occasional Chinese words within English text, characters may be used to accompany romanized words on first occurrence, and where they facilitate identification, but not with words or names that are well-known or can be readily identified.
Romanization: Except for established proper nouns and terminology, romanization should be done in standard Hanyu Pinyin. Tonal markings should be made by using either the Unicode-compliant Times New Roman font with tone-marked vowels or tone numbers at the end of each syllable.
Footnotes rather than endnotes should be used within the manuscript.
References and Bibliographies: Please follow The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) for recommended format for citations, acknowledgements, references lists, tables and figures and appendices. References in Chinese (or other languages) should be translated into English and formatted following the APA style. List English translation first and then put the non-English reference in square brackets([]) following the English translation. Use English punctuations in the non-English reference). For instance,
You, L., & Wang, S. (2005). Rules and distributions of Chinese verb-verb collocations. Computer Engineering and applications, 23, 179-181. [由丽萍, 王素格. (2005). 汉语动词——动词搭配规则与分布特征. 计算机工程与应用, 23, 179-181.]
Please contact the editors ([email protected]) if you need clarification about any formatting issues.
Titles: Chinese listings must include characters for authors and titles, while romanization for Chinese titles is unnecessary but translation of the titles into English is required. Other formatting matters such as the use of capitalization, italics and punctuation should also be consistent throughout the bibliography.
